"The Lightouch competition is in the best spirit of open design competitions because the brief is so open to imaginative interpretation. Our prize for winning Lightouch was a profoundly inspiring visit to FLOS in Italy where we were able to get a tangible sense of how FLOS works which lead us to make a sculptural light. Called 'love letter to the Castiglioni Brothers', the light takes the form of an electroluminescent letter in tribute to the Castiglioni's for the emotion and wit that they brought to their designs." 日程安排 30 October 2006 Open to Entries 30 March 2007 Competition Closes 18 May 2007 Announcement of Top 8 Winners 11-15 June 2007 Prototyping Workshop Series June/July 2007 Annoucement of Winner and Awards Exhibition 背景资料: DesignSingapore Council Design changes and improves lives, inspires creativity and new forms of expression. It also enhances business competitiveness in today's crowded marketplace. DesignSingapore is Singapore's response to these propositions and opportunities. As a national initiative, DesignSingapore aims to place Singapore on the world map for design creativity. It looks to developing a thriving, multi-disciplinary design cluster of industries and activities in Singapore that has relevance and impact globally. The initiative also aims to bring design to business boardrooms, new audiences and new markets. The DesignSingapore Council, set up since August 2003 by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, is the public organisation for promotion and development of Singapore design. In 2005, the Council presented SINGAPOREdge featuring 100 of Singapore's design talents in London and launched the inaugural Singapore Design Festival with 134 events contributed by 88 partners. The Council has also taken Singapore design exhibitions to the 2004 Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition, Sao Paulo Architecture Biennial in 2005, World Expo 2005 at Aichi and, most recently, the Salone Internazionale Del Mobile in April 2006. Next on the agenda is the Venice Biennale and London Design Festival in September 2006. FLOS FLOS was founded in 1962. The very same year the company began producing a number of lamps that were to become classics in Italian industrial design. These first lamps were Arco, Relemme, Toio and Taccia, all designed by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni. As a tangible proof of their timeless design and technical excellence, these lamps continue to be produced today. Over the years, prominent Italian and international names have designed for FLOS including Philippe Starck, Antonio Citterio, Marcel Wanders, Rodolfo Dordoni and Konstantin Grcic. The different design "trends" currently featuring in the FLOS product range are living proof of the company's attention to the most advanced contemporary research combined with a highly efficient production, sales and communication's system. Flos today is a company with an international structure and organisation, with a complete range for the home, and contract supplies for offices, hotels, and stores.
